Perras de reserva
Wednesdays 6:00 PM - Oaxaca Time
Service Description
Professor Marycarmen Olivares chose Perras de reserva, 13 short stories by Dahlia de la Cerda, won the Premio Nacional de Cuento Joven Comala and has been pre-selected for the 2025 International Booker Prize. These thirteen stories are raw, darkly humorous, and brutally honest. They shine a light on what it means to be a woman in a society shaped by violence, poverty, classism, and systemic injustice. For Spanish learners at an advanced level, these texts offer rich, real language and complex themes to unpack together. In our Club de Lectura en Español course, we will read and discuss selected stories — pushing the boundaries of our Spanish, and expanding our understanding of contemporary Mexico. Please join us on this journey of Mexican literature, enjoy Dahlia de la Cerda's book, and enhance your Spanish.
