Service Description
Arte Popular en Oaxaca: Craft, Culture & Conversation Oaxaca is one of the world's great centers of handmade art. Behind every alebrije, every piece of black clay pottery, every hand-woven textile, and every gold jewel lies a living story — of family traditions, ancestral techniques, and a profound connection to the land and its people. In this four-session tertulia course, you'll explore Oaxaca's most beloved crafts through real Spanish conversation. Each session focuses on a different art form: the materials, the process, and the communities and villages that keep these traditions alive generation after generation. More than a language class, this is an invitation to understand Oaxaca from the inside out. What you'll explore: Week 1 – Alebrijes: the fantastical creatures of Oaxacan imagination Week 2 – Pottery: from black clay to barro rojo, the art of the earth Week 3 – Textiles: looms, colors, and the stories woven into every thread Week 4 – Goldsmithing: the ancient and living art of Oaxacan jewelry Course details: 4 sessions · 1 hour each · Every Wednesday at 5:00 PM Oaxaca Time Recommended for beginner and intermediate Spanish learners (A1–B1) Maximum 3 students per group All sessions online via Zoom
