Service Description
Yo, Naomi Leon by Pam Muñoz Ryan This course is intended for upper beginner and intermediate students of Spanish. Over five weeks, we will explore this autobiographical novel in ten one-hour sessions. Before beginning the course, be sure to purchase the book and begin reading it. Students will review and understand a portion of the book during each session. Professor Gabriela Santiago will moderate the discussion about the context of the novel and provide a vocabulary to help students better understand the reading. Students will also discuss their interpretations of the novel. "Naomi Soledad Leon Outlaw has dealt with a lot in her short life, starting with her name. There's also the problem of her clothes (made by her grandmother out of polyester fabric), her shyness, and her reputation at school for not being anyone special. However, her grandmother says most problems are solved with a positive mindset. Her life with her grandmother and her little brother, Owen, at Avocado Acres Mobile Home Park is peaceful and happy...until her mom shows up after seven years, creating confusion and daring Naomi to find out who she is. This course will be held twice a week starting Monday, February 12. Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00 PM - Central Time. Available at: Amazon - https://a.co/d/hwmJWs0
